Choosing a Facebook username people can find
Your username becomes your Page's web address, facebook.com/yourname: the link you print, share and put on your website.
Short enough to say out loud
You'll put the address on flyers, receipts and your shop window, and say it on the phone. A short name made of real words is easy to type from memory. Facebook ignores periods when comparing names, so add one only where it helps reading.
Match your business name
People searching for you type your business's name. A username that matches it, or adds your town or trade when the plain name is taken, tells them they've found the right Page.
Use the same name everywhere
Use the same name on Facebook and Instagram if you can, so customers find you on both. Check the name on Instagram with the free Instagram username generator, then write the words under it with the Facebook bio generator.

How does the Facebook username generator work?
Describe your Page in a few words and pick a tone. The generator uses AI to suggest usernames, removes any that break Facebook's rules, and shows you ten. Copy the one you like, or press Check to open it on Facebook.
How do I set a username for my Facebook Page?
Open your Page, go to its settings and look for the username, then type the one you chose. Facebook tells you straight away if it's free.
What are the rules for a Facebook username?
At least 5 characters, using only letters, numbers and periods. No underscores, hyphens or spaces, no ending like .com, and it can't already belong to another Page or profile.
How do I know if a username is free?
Press Check next to a username to open facebook.com with it. If Facebook says the page isn't available, the name is likely free. Facebook tells you for certain when you try to set it.
What if the username I want is taken?
Add your town, your trade or a word like "shop" or "studio" to your description, and press Regenerate. Facebook ignores periods, so "fern.ash" counts as the same name as "fernash".
Can I change my Facebook username later?
Yes, but every link to the old address stops working, including ones printed on flyers or shared in posts. Pick one you'll be happy with for years.
Is the Facebook username generator free?

What happens to what I type?
