Why the right size matters on LinkedIn
LinkedIn fits every photo to its own shapes. If you resize first, you choose the crop, not LinkedIn.
Portrait takes the most room
Most people read LinkedIn on a phone, where a 4:5 portrait photo fills more of the screen than a landscape one. Use portrait for a photo that has to stop the scroll, landscape 1.91:1 for wide shots, slides and anything with text across it, and square when you're not sure.
Banners are cut differently on every screen
Your profile background is a wide 4:1 strip, and your profile picture covers part of its bottom-left corner. A company page cover is even thinner. On a phone LinkedIn trims the sides, so keep words and faces in the middle of both.

How do I resize a photo for LinkedIn?

What is the best image size for a LinkedIn post?
1080 × 1350 (4:5) for a portrait photo that fills the most of a phone screen, 1200 × 627 (1.91:1) for a landscape photo, or 1080 × 1080 for a square. LinkedIn shows all three in full.
What size is the LinkedIn background photo?
1584 × 396 pixels, a 4:1 strip. Your profile picture covers part of the bottom-left, and phones trim the sides, so keep the important part in the middle.
What size is a LinkedIn company page cover?
1512 × 256 pixels. It's very thin, so use a simple picture or a pattern rather than text or faces near the edges.
What size is a LinkedIn profile picture?
400 × 400 pixels is a good upload. LinkedIn shows it as a circle, so the resizer draws that circle inside the crop box, and you can see what will be cut off.
