Posttyy

Getting started

How to connect each account to Posttyy, and what to expect from each platform on the way.

Before you connect anything

You need a Posttyy account. Signing up gives you one, and it holds your connected accounts, drafts and calendar.

Connecting is always done in the platform's own login screen. Posttyy never asks for a social media password and never sees one.

Connecting an account

The same three steps, whichever network you're adding:

  1. Open Connected socials in the sidebar.
  2. Under Connect an account, choose the platform. Posttyy hands you to that network's own sign-in page.
  3. Sign in there and approve the permissions. Approve all of them — publishing is a separate tick on some consent screens, and a connection made without it can be created and still not post.

You land back on Connected socials with the account listed, its profile picture showing and the platform's mark badged on the corner. That's the whole of it — repeat per account, including two accounts on the same network.

X

Nothing to set up first — any X account will do.

  1. Choose X on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in to X and approve the access it asks for — reading your profile, posting, and uploading media.

X posts run to 280 characters, and a post can carry up to 4 photos, one GIF, or one video. X is the only network here that publishes GIFs.

Instagram

Needs a Business or Creator account — a personal one can't be connected.

  1. In the Instagram app, open Settings → Account type and tools and switch to a Business or Creator account. It's free, it takes a minute, and you can switch back whenever you like.
  2. Choose Instagram on Connected socials.
  3. Sign in and approve both permissions — the second one is what lets Posttyy publish. Leaving it unticked is the most common reason an Instagram connection exists but won't post.

Instagram takes photos and video, but no GIFs. A post can carry up to 10 photos as a carousel, or one video. Captions run to 2,200 characters.

Threads

Connects on its own, separately from Instagram.

  1. Choose Threads on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in with the Threads account you want to post from, and approve both permissions — publishing is the second tick here too.

A Threads connection is its own account, even though Threads and Instagram share a login. Connecting one does not connect the other, and you can have either without the other. Posts run to 500 characters, with up to 10 photos or one video.

Facebook

Publishes to a Facebook Page — not to a personal profile.

  1. Make sure the Facebook account you'll sign in with manages at least one Page. If it manages none, there is nothing for Posttyy to post to and the connect stops there and says so.
  2. Choose Facebook Page on Connected socials.
  3. Sign in to Facebook and, on the screen asking which Pages the app may use, tick every Page you want to post to.
  4. If that login manages more than one Page, Posttyy then asks which of them you want to post to. Each Page you tick becomes its own connection, listed separately.

Facebook is asked which Pages to grant every time you connect, even if you've connected before. That's deliberate: Facebook otherwise reuses your last answer, and a Page created since then could never be reached. So if you add a Page later, connect Facebook again and tick the new one.

TikTok

Video only. You choose who can see each video, and only “Only me” posts go through until TikTok finishes reviewing Posttyy.

  1. Choose TikTok on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in to TikTok and approve access — including permission to post videos.

TikTok takes no photographs. Its photo posting only accepts files from a domain verified with TikTok, which Posttyy can't provide, so a TikTok post is one video. Captions run to 2,200 characters.

Each TikTok post asks you a few questions. When you tick a TikTok account, Posttyy shows the name the video goes out under and asks who can see it, whether people may comment, Duet and Stitch, and whether the video promotes a brand. Nothing is chosen for you — that's TikTok's rule. The post can't be scheduled until you choose who can see it.

Until TikTok completes its Content Posting review of Posttyy, only posts set to “Only me” go through — visible to you alone, in your own profile. That's TikTok's rule for any app it hasn't yet reviewed. A post set to anyone else is refused during this period. Once the review passes, every choice works with no change at your end.

LinkedIn

Posts to your own LinkedIn profile, and needs reconnecting every 60 days.

  1. Choose LinkedIn on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in to LinkedIn and allow Posttyy to post on your behalf.

LinkedIn sign-ins expire after 60 days. Every other platform here refreshes itself in the background; LinkedIn only allows that for companies it has approved as marketing partners, so roughly every two months the connection stops and you reconnect it on Connected socials. Posttyy marks it clearly when that happens, and nothing scheduled is lost — the posts wait.

Photographs, not video. A LinkedIn post can carry up to ten images, or none at all — words on their own publish fine. Video is not supported yet. Posts run to 3,000 characters.

It posts as you, not as a company page. Publishing to a LinkedIn company page needs a separate permission that LinkedIn grants case by case, so for now a LinkedIn connection is your own profile.

Pinterest

One board at a time, and every pin is a picture.

  1. Choose Pinterest on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in to Pinterest and allow Posttyy to see your boards and create pins.

A pin goes on a board, so the post picks the boards. Connecting Pinterest connects your account, like every other network here — it's one account and counts as one. Tick Pinterest on a post and a row of your boards appears under it; choose one, or several, and the post is pinned to each of them. Boards you keep secret aren't offered: Posttyy doesn't ask Pinterest for permission to see them. If the account has no boards at all, add one from its row on Connected socials.

A new board takes up to an hour to appear. Posttyy keeps a copy of your board list so the composer opens straight away instead of waiting on Pinterest, and refreshes it every hour. Make a board and want it now? Connect Pinterest again — that reads the list immediately.

Photographs, and at least one. A pin is a picture, so a Pinterest post can't be words alone. One image is a plain pin and two to five make a carousel. Video and GIFs aren't supported yet. Descriptions run to 800 characters. A post pinned to several boards makes a pin on each, and the post links to the first of them.

Pinterest isn't publishing yet. Pinterest doesn't let an app it hasn't reviewed create pins on real accounts — not privately, not at all — and it hasn't finished reviewing Posttyy. You can connect Pinterest and schedule to it, and those posts will say so plainly rather than failing quietly. Everything starts working the day the review passes, with nothing to change at your end.

YouTube

One channel, videos only, with a title and a category of its own.

  1. Choose YouTube on Connected socials.
  2. Sign in with the Google account your channel belongs to, and allow Posttyy to upload videos and see the channel.

It connects a channel, not a Google account. Google signs you in as whichever channel that account is currently acting as, so if you run several, switch to the right one on youtube.com before connecting. A Google account with no channel can't be connected at all — make one at youtube.com first. To add a second channel, switch to it and connect again; each counts as one account.

A title of its own. YouTube wants a title and a description where every other network here wants one caption. So ticking a YouTube account adds a title box under Post to, and the post's caption becomes the description. Posting to several channels at once? Each gets its own title box, so the same video can be titled differently on each. Titles run to 100 characters, descriptions to 5,000.

A video, and a title for it. A YouTube post is a video — MP4, one per post, no photographs — and it can't go out untitled, because YouTube won't publish a video without one. The description is optional. How long a video may run is your channel's business rather than Posttyy's: fifteen minutes until you verify a phone number with YouTube, twelve hours after that.

Short or ordinary video isn't a choice. YouTube decides, and it decides from the file: upright or square and three minutes or under becomes a Short, anything wider or longer becomes an ordinary video. There is no switch for it in YouTube itself and none in Posttyy. What Posttyy does is tell you which one you're about to get, under the video, before it goes.

A category, and a thumbnail if you want one. Every YouTube video is filed under a category, so ticking a channel offers the list that channel can use — People & Blogs to start with, which is what YouTube's own uploader defaults to. You can add a picture to front the video with too: a JPEG or PNG up to 2 MB. Both belong to the channel rather than the post, so a video going to two channels can be filed and fronted differently on each.

Thumbnails need a verified channel. YouTube only accepts a custom thumbnail from a channel that has verified a phone number, and on a Short only from a channel in the Partner Programme. Where it won't take yours the video still publishes normally — YouTube picks a frame from it, the same as if you'd added no picture at all. Posttyy can't tell in advance which channels qualify, so it doesn't pretend to.

Videos go out public. Google verified Posttyy's access to YouTube on 12 September 2026. Before that every video uploaded through it was locked to private, whatever it asked for; since then a published video is public, watchable by anyone with the link and listed on your channel like any other upload. You can still change a video to unlisted or private yourself in YouTube Studio afterwards.

What each platform takes

Posttyy checks all of this as you write, so you don't have to remember it. It's here for planning a post before you start one.

A post carries one kind of media at a time: a set of photos, or one GIF, or one video. Photos must be under 5 MB, GIFs under 15 MB, and videos under 512 MB. Large photos are shrunk for you as you add them.

Scheduling your first post

  1. Press New post at the top of the sidebar.
  2. Tick the accounts it should go to. They all get the same words unless you write different ones for a particular account.
  3. Write the post. The character counter measures against the strictest network you've ticked, so an X account in the selection is the one it warns you about.
  4. Add photos or a video, if it has any.
  5. Pick a date and time, and save. The post appears on the calendar and goes out at that minute — you don't need to be online, and there's no notification to tap.

Not ready to schedule it? Save it as a draft. Drafts sit in Draftsuntil you come back to them, and there's no date on them until you set one.

If something stops working

Connected socials is where every problem with a connection is reported. Three of them come up often enough to name:

“Not publishing since…”

The network refused the saved sign-in — usually because a password changed, the account's access was revoked, or the connection simply aged out. Connect that platform again from the same page and the posts waiting on it resume. The date is there so you can see which posts were affected.

“Can't publish — Posttyy wasn't granted permission”

The publishing tick was left off on the consent screen. It can't be added afterwards, so connect that account again and approve everything this time. Instagram and Threads are the two that ask separately.

“Can't post images” on X

An X account connected before Posttyy supported images. Its permissions can't be widened in place — connect X again and it will post them.

A post that failed says which account it failed on and why, in words. The accounts it did reach stay published; you only need to deal with the one that didn't.

Still stuck?

Email cavelightstore@gmail.com and say which platform and what you saw. If a post failed, the wording of the error is the most useful thing you can send.
