What makes a good Instagram caption
The photo stops the scroll. The caption decides if people like, comment, save or follow.
The first line does the work
Instagram shows only the first line or two of a caption, about 125 characters, before "more". Put the part that matters there: the news, the feeling or the question. A short caption shows in full, which is why Short is the generator's default.
A few hashtags, not thirty
Since December 2025, Instagram counts at most five hashtags on a post and ignores the rest. Choose a few that say exactly what the post is about, such as #HandmadeFurniture rather than #love. The generator never writes more than five.
Give people something to do

How many hashtags should I use on Instagram?
Use three to five. Since December 2025, Instagram counts at most five hashtags on a post and ignores any more. A few specific hashtags work better than many broad ones.
How long can an Instagram caption be?
Up to 2,200 characters. But Instagram shows only the first line or two, about 125 characters, before "more", so the start of the caption matters most.
Why do I get three captions?
Each one takes a different angle, for example one that sets the scene and one that ends with a question. You choose the one that sounds most like you. Press Regenerate for three more.
What happens to what I type?
Your description is sent to OpenAI, whose AI writes the captions. Posttyy doesn't save your description or the captions.
Can I schedule the caption?
