Safe zone
The part of a vertical video or Story that isn't covered by the app's buttons, captions and profile name.
On TikTok, Reels, Shorts and Stories, the edges of the screen are crowded: the caption and handle at the bottom, the like, comment and share buttons down the right, and the progress bar at the top. Anything important placed there gets hidden.
Keeping faces, text and products inside the safe zone means they stay visible whatever the viewer's phone. Each app's overlay is slightly different, so it's worth checking against the one you're posting to.
