The scrolling stream of posts a network shows each person, mixing accounts they follow with recommendations.
The feed is the main screen of most networks. Once it was simply newest first; now it's ranked by an algorithm, and on most networks it includes suggested posts and ads alongside the accounts you follow.
On Instagram, "the feed" or "the grid" also means your own profile's posts laid out in a grid, which is why some accounts plan how posts will look side by side.
