Also called: DM
A private message sent to an account on a social network, visible only to the people in the conversation.
Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook (through Messenger), LinkedIn and Threads all have DMs. For brands they're a customer service channel, a sales channel and the place where collaborations are arranged.
Many networks filter messages from people you don't follow into a separate requests folder, so it's worth checking it. "DM me" or "DM for prices" in a caption is a common call to action.
