You will read that Pinterest “wants fresh pins”. The term is simple, but it is often explained badly. This guide says what a fresh pin is, what is not one, and how to make many of them for a single page.

A fresh pin is a pin with a picture that Pinterest has not seen before. The picture is what counts. The link can be one you have pinned many times.

Why Pinterest prefers fresh pins
- People want new things to look at. A feed of pictures they have seen before sends them away.
- Repeats were used as spam. Some accounts posted one picture hundreds of times. Pinterest now gives those repeats less reach.
- Fresh pins are shown more. Tailwind, a Pinterest partner, reports that fresh pins get more room in the home feed and in search than repeats do.
You do not need new pages
This is the part people miss. A fresh pin does not need a new blog post or a new product. One page can have many fresh pins, because each pin has a different picture.
A recipe post with six photos can give six pins with no design work. Add a different layout and headline to each photo, and it gives many more.
Five ways to make a fresh pin for the same page
- Use a different photo. The finished dish, then the ingredients, then one step.
- Change the layout. Photo on top with words below, then words over the photo.
- Change the headline. “30-minute chicken pasta”, then “Dinner in one pan”.
- Change the colours. Cream on one pin, navy on the next.
- Use two or three photos together. A collage is a new picture.
Change the title and the description too, so each pin aims at a different search. But remember that words alone do not make a pin fresh.
How many fresh pins to post
- 1 to 5 a day is enough for most accounts.
- Post one pin a day for each link, not five in an hour.
- A new account can start with 3 to 5 a week.

The fast way to make fresh pins
Posttyy has a page named Bulk pins. You paste a link, and it makes up to 30 pins. Each pin starts on a different photo and a different layout. There are 10 layouts, such as Photo on top, Big headline and Two photos.
- Open Bulk pins in the sidebar.
- Paste a link and press Get photos.
- Under How many pins?, type a number.
- Point at any pin to edit it, change its layout or remove it.
