Tailwind is the best-known Pinterest scheduler. It makes pins, spaces them out and has tools for Pinterest keywords. But you pay for each Pinterest account, and each pin you schedule spends a credit. Here are eight alternatives, and when each one is the better choice.

Posttyy publishes this article, and Posttyy is on the list. We've said plainly where it falls short. Tailwind's prices were read from its own website on 7 October 2026, and the other tools' prices on 25 September 2026.

What Tailwind costs

Tailwind sells three products. You can buy one, or all three together. Every price is for one Pinterest account.

From Tailwind's pricing page on 7 October 2026.
ProductBilled monthlyBilled yearlyCredits a month
Pin Scheduling & Creation$29.99$17.99 a month300
Pinterest SEO$14.99$11.99 a month50
Pinterest Engagement$14.99$11.99 a month50
All three$41.97$29.98 a monthNot stated

Credits are what Tailwind charges for actions. Scheduling a pin uses 1 credit. More credits cost $10 per 100.

Why people look for a Tailwind alternative

  • Credits run out. 300 credits is about 10 pins a day for a month. An account that pins more than that buys more credits.
  • Each Pinterest account is a new bill. Two shops or two blogs cost twice as much.
  • They post to other networks too. Tailwind's pricing page is about Pinterest only. A person who also posts to Instagram or Facebook wants one tool for all of them.

If none of those bother you, Tailwind is still a good tool. It does more for Pinterest alone than any tool on this list.

What a month of pins costs

Here is the monthly bill for one Pinterest account, billed monthly, at two different paces.

Worked out from each tool's published prices. Tailwind's figure assumes credits are spent only on scheduling.

Pinterest's scheduler is free, but it holds only 10 scheduled pins at a time. To post 300 pins a month you refill it every day.

1. Posttyy

Best Tailwind alternative for: making and scheduling many pins at a flat price.

Posttyy has a page named Bulk pins. You paste a link. Posttyy reads the page for its photos, makes up to 30 different pins and gives each one a time. There are no credits, and scheduled pins have no limit.

The Bulk pins page in Posttyy. Eight photos are ticked under “Start with a link”. Under “Make your pins” there are 15 pins, each with a different photo and layout and the headline “10 things to do on a city break”.
Fifteen pins made from one link in Posttyy's Bulk pins.
  • Price: $19 a month for 2 accounts, $39 for 10, $59 for unlimited. An account can be a Pinterest account or an account on another network.
  • Better than Tailwind at: price when you pin a lot, a second Pinterest account at no extra cost, and posting the same content to X, Instagram, Threads, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube.
  • Worse than Tailwind at: Pinterest research. Posttyy has no keyword search tool and does not make pins from your website each week by itself. It pins photos, not video. There is no free plan, only a 7-day trial.

2. Pinterest's own scheduler

Best Tailwind alternative for: a few pins a week, for free.

  • Price: free with a Pinterest business account, which is also free.
  • Better than Tailwind at: cost. It also schedules video pins.
  • Watch out: you can hold 10 scheduled pins at a time, up to 30 days ahead, and you schedule them one by one.

3. Buffer

Best Tailwind alternative for: one or two channels and a simple tool.

  • Price: $6 per channel a month ($5 billed yearly).
  • Free plan: 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel.
  • Watch out: it schedules pins you have made. It does not make them.

4. Later

Best Tailwind alternative for: people who plan Pinterest and Instagram together.

  • Price: Starter plan: 1 user, 1 social set, 30 posts per profile a month.
  • Better than Tailwind at: a visual plan of your Instagram feed beside your pins.
  • Watch out: the Starter plan limits posts per profile each month.

5. Publer

Best Tailwind alternative for: the lowest price per account.

  • Price: $5 per account a month (Professional).
  • Free plan: 3 social accounts, not including X.
  • Watch out: like Buffer, it schedules pins but does not design them.

6. Metricool

Best Tailwind alternative for: analytics across several networks.

  • Price: Starter plan, priced by how many brands you manage.
  • Free plan: 1 brand, one profile per network, 20 published posts a month.
  • Watch out: the free plan's 20 posts a month is less than one pin a day.

7. SocialPilot

Best Tailwind alternative for: small agencies with several clients.

  • Price: $30 a month for 7 accounts and 1 user.
  • Better than Tailwind at: accounts per dollar.
  • Watch out: no free plan.

8. Hootsuite

Best Tailwind alternative for: large teams that want an inbox and reports in one place.

  • Price: $99 a month (Standard), with a 30 days free trial.
  • Watch out: far more expensive than Tailwind, and more tool than one Pinterest account needs.

Which Tailwind alternative should you choose?

  • You pin a lot and the credits run out: Posttyy.
  • You pin a few times a week: Pinterest's own scheduler.
  • You already design your pins: Buffer or Publer.
  • You want Pinterest keyword tools: stay with Tailwind.

Common questions

What is cheaper than Tailwind?

Pinterest's own scheduler is free. Posttyy is $19 a month for 2 accounts with unlimited pins, where Tailwind's Pin Scheduling & Creation is $29.99 a month for one Pinterest account and 300 credits.

Is there a free alternative to Tailwind?

Yes. Pinterest's own scheduler is free with a business account. It holds 10 scheduled pins at a time. Buffer, Publer and Metricool also have free plans with limits.

Is Tailwind still worth it?

Yes, if Pinterest is your only network and you use its keyword and engagement tools. If you only need to make and schedule pins, a flat-price scheduler costs less.
