Blue checkmark
Also called: Verification badge, Blue tick
The badge beside a profile's name that shows the account is verified, or, on some networks, that it pays for a subscription.
The blue checkmark used to mean a network had confirmed the account belonged to a notable person or brand. Since 2023 it has also become something you can buy: X gives it to Premium subscribers, and Meta Verified sells it on Instagram and Facebook with an ID check.
It still signals that an account is who it says it is, which helps against impersonators, and on X it brings extra reach and longer posts. It doesn't make an account more trustworthy on its own.
